Who We Are
Moor Road Runners was established in April 2022 by two friends, Phil and Paul in The Plough, Heaton Moor. The idea was simple - to create a running club where people can run, make friends and socialise.
With the unofficial motto Run Miles, Drink Pints, the club plans its events to start and end at either a café, a pub or a bar, so people can hang around after their run.
There are now over 700 members on Facebook and the club has a strong representation at Burnage Park Run.
There are runners of all levels and no one gets left behind. Some people enter events - 10km, half-marathons, full marathons, trail races and even 24-hour races, but many people just turn up for a social run... and a drink afterwards.
Moor Road Runners are big fans of the Manchester Marathon as both runners and supporters.
A whopping 27 runners have already entered for the 2027 marathon. The club is on a mission to enter 50 runners, as one of our regulars, Danny Gunn, has promised to also enter if we reach this number - to match his age. Please help make this happen by entering and adding your name to the list!
The club is not affiliated to UK Athletics and there are no membership fees. Phil and Paul have a side-hussle producing swanky club merch, and many members help support the club by buying running tops, vest, hoodies, hats and socks.
